How do i put an image into an email NOT as an attachment?

I'm a print designer and a client wants me to put a low res image of her ad into a group email for her, but I only know how to do this as an attachment. Is this something simple, or do I have to be a web wiz? Thanks!

There are two ways to answer this question, (1) literally, and (2) by deducing your intentions and going with my best guess.

1. You can't. Email, or specifically, the POP3 and SMTP protocols, are text only, and the only way to add anything that is NOT text is to use some sort of file attachment protocol, such as UUENCODE or MIME.

2. One way that people, and most often advertisers, SEEM to include an image in an email WITHOUT attaching it, is by sending an email that is really an HTML document, with an image tag embedded, and that image tag points to a photo or graphic that resides on a web server. The image tag would look something like this...



There are numerous problems with this strategy...

1) The HTML itself must, by definition, be an attachment, since it isn't plain text and email software won't know how to read it otherwise.

2) Traditional, non-web email software will not necessarily load the image just because it's in the email's HTML code. One important reason for this is privacy. Once an email attempts to load an image from a server, a sneaky spammer can use the server logs to verify who has been reading their spam.

3) Many web-based clients (including Yahoo Mail) now offer a feature that allows users to block images that aren't contained within the email itself.

4) Because of issues 2 and 3, that HTML-based image will most likely be invisible to many of the recipients, unless they know in advance what you're sending and can take steps to view it.

Open the image, hit ALT and PRINT SCREEN at the same time, then go to the email body and hit CTRL and V at the same time. The image should appear in the email.

You could put it by HTML, if you have the image somewhere on the internet, and your email supports it.

You have to have the image uploaded somewhere and html enabled for composing the email. Then you type in And tada!

Make sure your email editor has "HTML" option ON and then do the following.




now offcourse this images needs to be hosted somewhere, in above example it was hosted with "site.com"

simple. right click on the image. copy. go to the email page. right click. paste.

You probably would need to use HTML to do this. Look for info on creating HTML e-mail.

you can 'copy ' and 'paste' also. ( click & drag , then right click the selection , copy and then paste it in the email )
