I just figured this out because i never had cable. Some channels work, but the channel # isn't correct though. Is there a way I can get all my Time Warner Cable Channels without the official Cable box? My parents didn't want the cable, they just got internet and telephone service. I tried connecting the tv with the cable today and remebered that it only works with a cable box and it has to be set on video mode or channel 3, i guess.

The installation tech didn't install the video filter to block whatever analog video channels they are still broadcasting. Thise analog channels are the ones you can pick up with a regular tv & coax cable hookup with the tv in the CATV mode. As far as the channel #'s are concerned, all cable companies do what is called "channel mapping" , where they take ch 2 ( for example) and tell the box to display it on ch 200. If you have a tv with no box, ch 2 it is, ch 200 with the box. I don't know how diligent your cable proivider is on their quality conrol inspections or not, but "someday" theu will inspect the connection at the pole/pedestal/vault/lockbox and fix the error by installing a fgilter to remove the analog channels you are not paying for , and still allow the data/voip services you are paying for. autoprogram your tv and enjoy the ride until it ends!

Your TV is probably cable ready, but you'll only be able to get the analog channels without the box, nothing digital.

You are probably getting the analog channels. You might try setting the tuner on your TV to "cable" instead of "antenna" to get the rest of the lineup.

If you're not paying for cable tv, you shouldn't be getting any cable stations.

That's great that you're still getting channels. No, that's all you can get.
