Yeah, but Tetley makes a nice decaffinated tea now that you can't tell the difference.

Tea has a very small amount of caffeine. Soda has more and Coffee has a LOT more. I have two children and while I was pregnant with both of them I was told to limit my caffeine. A rule I used was if it was enough to make me jittery, it was enough to make the baby jittery, which is bad. Just take it easy and don't suck down caffeine on a constant basis and you will be fine!

Check with a dr. to see what the recommended amount of caffeine would be for a pregnant woman. I know that some caffeine is okay, but you do not want to have too much.
A lot of tea's come decaf... i would try those! :)

It's bad to have anything with caffeine in it. You can try herbal teas that have no caffeine, although I would still only drink 1 maybe 2 cups a day.

I don't think tea itself is bad for you while you are pregnant..it's more like the caffeine which some teas contain which may do some damage.
So...moderation is the key if the tea you drink has caffeine in it! AND: you can always opt for decaf teas and delicious herbal ones in place of black and/or caffeinated ones.

i stopped all caffeine intake when i found out i was pregnant.
however, i have been told that 1/2-1 serving of a caffeine beverage each day is allowed.
i would ask your OB's opinion on this.
as for tea in specific:
i switched to decaf, which is still nice and yummy. also, be aware of herbal teas b/c some herbs they may contain can cause abdominal contractions. so, i would stick with plain, jane lipton decaf!! then add about a tablespoon of honey:)
take care!

When you are pregnant, you should definitely switch to decaf tea. However, if you just can't drink tea without the caffeine, then you should limit yourself to 1-2 glasses/cups a day.

My doctor never had a problem with it since I did it in moderation. I had 2-3 glasses a day. And I have 4 kids who came out just fine!

I drink it but only in moderation, too much caffeine is not good for a pregnant woman. It's safe as long as you dont drink too much

Not really but I would only drink things that are decaffeinated. But for the most part no, you will not harm your baby if you have a cup of tea or coffee. If that were the case all those coffee addicts out there would be in trouble. Good luck.
