Nope, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?
So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people.
They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips and Medal of Honor winning and former Governor Joe Foss,
but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone because of profiling.

When you talk about "racial" profiling how would you spot the Arab muslims? They're really not a race. Bush has called them "brown people" but that's not a good description because Arabs skin coloring can vary. Iraqis and Lebanese, 2 nationalites that may have a personal grudge against the US can look like southern or central Europeans. There are Muslims who live in Bosnia, and subSaharan Africa. Terrorists can include converts who can be of any national origin, even Anglo-Saxon American. Remember John Walker Lindh? Profiling is not a simple matter.
And, if the terrorists know the US is relying on a simple system of checking the most obvious of Arabs, they will figure this out, and send people who do not fit the profile. They really aren't that dumb, you know.
-Edit -
I think profiling should be done, but it cannot be the only method, various screening techniques are needed to catch culprits in this diverse population. Terrorists can look like anybody or everybody. Racial profiling might be a feel good or comforting solution to the right wing, but it can lead to a false sense of security and miss many actual terrorists.

"We all have to take sacrifices sometimes"??? Easy to say when it isn't you making the sacrifice. And your speculation about not getting jobs because your white is irrelevant: You think Muslims aren't being discriminated against when it comes to employment?
"We ARE ALL at risk"? Of being attacked by a Muslim? How about those Americans in danger of being attacked by Jews? Or being attacked by white supremacists? Or any other group?
Ask a Japanese American who lived through WWII how necessary and good the internment camps were. How long before we start Arab and/or Muslim internment camps? Your line of thinking leads directly to that outcome.
If you want to profile everyone of a certain religion, then IT IS ABOUT THE RELIGION. How are we supposed to profile who is Muslim and who is not? By looking at them? Muslims aren't the only ones who wear turbans, and not all Arabs are Muslims. And what of the African-American Muslims like Farrakhan? You make it all sound so simple when it isn't.
The laws we have protecting the civil liberties of Muslims are important, for history has shown time and again that it will be your group being profiled & sent to internment camps next. If we really want the world to hate us even more & attack us more frequently, let's let the tyranny of the majority take over & return to the pre-Civil Rights era. The world sees how we treat our own & they have weapons, too.

I support racial profiling because they sit there in unified silence and never speak out against the atrocities of their extremists. Perhaps it is because they all share the same views. Perhaps they are all extremists, just in different degrees. They ask the world to understand their grievances, while their people kill innocents. Clean your house first, before you come to the world with your hand out, looking for sympathy. No, contacts and informants in the muslim world won't help. This is a muslim problem. The muslims are the only ones who can stop it. If they don't, it means they support it and we've seen all kinds of evidence that they do, whether they admit it openly or not. They glorify suicide murders! They have parades and memorials in honor of teens who blew themselves up to kill Israelis or Maronites or Americans or whoever the infidel do jour is. Not all muslims are bad, but enough are to really really matter. After 9/11 an extensive poll was taken throughout the muslim world (where allowed.) 15% openly supported OBL and said the US had it coming and they hope there's more. 69% said that, while regrettable, it's the US's own fault for supporting Israel, EVEN THOUGH at the time, Israel wasn't even mentioned by OBL, and most of these people have never met an Israeli in their lives. So 74% of the muslim world wants Israel gone and wouldn't be too sad if we were gone too. If the poll is representative, then out of 1.3 Billion muslims in the world, there are over 700 Million who want Israel gone and who wish us ill. Furthermore, A 2004 estimate by the intelligence unit of French police found that about 150 of the country's indexed 1,600 mosques and prayer halls were under the control of extremist elements.
A study of 1,160 recent French converts to Islam found that 23% identified themselves as Salafists — a sect sometimes associated with violent extremism.
In the Netherlands, the Dutch intelligence service says it believes as many as 20 different hard-line Islamic groups may be operating in the country.
In London, authorities say that as many as 3,000 veterans of al-Qaeda training camps over the years were born or based in Britain. Not all muslims are bad, but as far as I'm concerned, enough of them are, therefore I don't feel bad about generalizing or profiling in this case.

Dude, that's retarded. Racial profiling has nothing to do with religion, and everything to do with assuming people are criminals based on the color of their skin. In this country we are constitutionally Innocent until Proven Guilty for exactly this reason.
Your skin color is NOT the reason you can't get a job- many white people all over the country can find jobs, so there's probably another reason.
If we decide to allow oppression to one segment of our society, it can easily bleed into all sections. Why become what we hate out of fear? This is the Home of the Brave- don't let America become less than she is because you're afraid of terrorists. Stand proud and courageous; we are a better people, so let's act like it.

I do not support racial profiling. It is immoral, unethical, and unfair. The guy asking the questions comes off a s a hypocrite, saying we should racial profile muslims and arabs but we have to protect the interests of all of us... Not all Arabs are Muslims, and vice versa. If it were not for racist pricks like the guy who suggested this in the first place, this country would be much better. Prejudice and discrimination...have we learned nothing from the Jim Crow days?
And to the guy who said why muslims don't condemn it publicly, why should they? The Muslims in America should not have to apologize for something they do did not do or agree with. You're white, would you apologize for slavery? or for the internment?

Its all about being politically correct. An that's why this war is so difficult to win. Israel cant defend itself b/c innocent people die, American soldiers have to act like police rather than soldiers, we cant accuse Iran of attacking Israel even though they supply terrorists with weapons, man power, and money.
We cant give to those of the few, if by doing it, we endanger those of the many.
We will learn this eventually. Unfortunately its going to come in the form of a big kick in the ***. I guess 9/11 wasn't big enough.

Racial profiling doesn't work against those who blend into the crowd. Terrorists are recruiting from within people who are not noticably different from the general population. The guys recently captured in GB were native born Britts.
So, if it isn't going to work, it will make us less safe, not more safe.

Oh, please. Can you hear yourself? You're so caught up in fear it's insane. Let me use a quote that is well written, giving good summation regarding this war the US insists upon: "The staged and planned attacks of the World Trade Center and Pentagon buildings were deliberate acts orchestrated by Illuminati planners using naive arab dupes (the "terrorists") to pull off a suicide mission in which they were allowed, guided, and facilitated by hidden intelligence agents and operatives. They are using this orchestrated ruse to stampede the public into accepting Big Brother control and ID programs, along with the sweeping away of constitutional guarantees and liberties under the guise of anti-terrorists legislation. The dessimination of biowarfare agents in America to reduce population needed a convenient cover and the "terrorists" scenario provided it. I'm simply astonished at the gullibility of so many Americans in accepting this poorly covered up orchestration. The growing number of web sites and well written aritlces that are exposing the details of this deception-from the planted bombs in the WTC towers to the stand down of military air defence forces while the hyjacked planes were enroute-makes it abundantly clear that the attacks of Sept 11, 2001 were a ruse, a charade, a set up that even a child should recognize."

It's because of our politically correct culture.
Have you read "While Europe Slept" by Bruce Bawer
He talks about this subject.
Until 80 year old grandmothers start blowing people up let's use some common sense in who we search.
