Here is a tip I received only about a week ago. I have not tried it myself. Aspartame is a artificial sweetener found in NutraSweet and Equal. I am told it was originally developed an an ant poison and that it works on almost any species of ant including Fire Ants either in the house or in the yard. Just sprinkle the contents of the packets wherever there are ants. If you have the small black ones in the house you may have to mix it with a little apple juice. For outside you may have to mist the treated area with a misting water spray. I understand this works miracles with getting rid of ants. Good luck!

I doubt those are "fire ants" in a home.
You need to find their entrance. I put some sugar out once and watched them carry it to the exit. Found it. From the kitchen to the bath. Had to plug that.
At some hardware stores or feed stores, Buy some TARO.
They may have found a food source in cabinets, any open containers.

If they are "fire ants", they are red, larger than sugar ants and move very fast. Their stings can be deadly. If the above does not appear to work, get an exterminator.

I think for fire ants you have to call an exterminator. Do you own your home? Did you purchase the home warrentty? Some times stuff like that is covered.

Also try researching on the net what fire ants eat? Maybe they are looking for something that you are not aware of.

Get some ant traps also I heard this from a friend who use to work for terminix that ants do not like cucumber peelings. So if you find out where the ants are coming from place some peelings and see what happens.

same way as every other type of ant. Just buy aunt traps, or ant bait. The nibble it and take it back to the nest where it kills off the entire colony within a couple of days.

It has nothing to do with cleaniness, they came in from outside cause its cooler in there.

Try using vinegar at the sites where the ants are entering. Always works for me! :P
