Ive always thought about that too, but I guess since a plant doesnt make noise and move on its own, they dont care about them. Its still killing something, but either way, something has to die for us to eat...

As far as biologically they are differntly complex and evolved. Plants DO move just much more slowly than we do. They have also been shown to exhibit stress and fear of extrememe heat and being cut, etc. Some religions will explain reincarnation and all living things have a soul but one manifestation is more evolved than another and therefore it is unethical to eat more evolved creatures. But basically the majority of plant food we consume does not KILL the plant. Fruit being the perfect example, it does not hurt the tree to eat the apple.
I love vegetarians who point out that they eat their food LIVE and no one complains.
The true test being HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT BEING CONSUMED? or eaten? (whether in a pot being cooked by cannibals or swallowed by a huge snake or devoured by a large beast or even consumed by flesh eating virus, ants or beetles."

Hi. Animals can feel and be frightened. Plants, as a rule, cannot. You must eat a lot of eggs!

I think if we were'nt supposed to eat animals than God would'nt have made them out of meat.
