it's a sickening situation. i think it's a decision between him and his family. if they feel this is the best course of action, why the f**k should the local government be interfering with this decision?

First, if the teen is still a dependent under the parents, they should have first say. Then there is the issue where both the parents and the teen agree not to have the chemo and the courts are trying to intercede. In both cases, if there is a conflict, there needs to be a professional evaluation of the teen's ability to make decisions. This definitely can be done. If the teen has the ability to make adult intelligent decisions about his/her treatment, the teen's wishes should be acceded to.

No! No one should! I'm so glad his parents are on his side. This is crazy--forcing medical treatment of any kind on anyone--by court order! I hope I never have to face this type of situation. I'm terrified that the schools and doctors might try to force me to put my kids ON drugs. Not gonna happen though. We must never give in to this type of thing. It is our lives and our bodies.

Depends on how old they are. Teenager doesn't say the age.

If you are talking 13 - no, they should have the chemo.

If you are talking older, like 17 - maybe.
