There is an episode where Daniel Jackson steps into a mirror while on a mission to an alternate reality where the goul are attacking earth the one with the other Colonel Jack O'Neal and Samantha Carter with long hair. Ok at the end of the episode the alternate Sam blows herself up with a hand grenade to slow down the goul who are heading to the stargate.

An alternate Sam appears in a future episode is this one from yet another reality?!

It was definitely a different alternate reality. Two things make this obvious: once again, this Dr. Carter had never met Daniel Jackson, and 'her' O'Neill was still a colonel and not a general like the O'Neill of the first AU visited.

Actually, I seem to remember a line in the episode where someone refers to it as an "alternate, alternate reality".

There have been many multiple realitiy episodes within the SG-1 series. The most recent was in season nine where they had all those alternate versions of the SG-1 team converging on one spot.
This plot device is usually done to save money so you do not have to hire additional guest performers for an episode and if you're not careful, can be seriously overdone.

As to answer your questions, yes. The idea of alternate universes is that they are COUNTLESS different ones. So, while one Samantha died with the grenade, there are still theoretically hundreds if not thousands of Samantha's in other alternate realities.

I would say so. Remember when they brought back Fraiser in Ripple Effect?
There were tons of alternate universe SG-1s, including a bunch of Sams.
That was an awesome episode.

I remeber the episode, but I thought it was the alternate Sam who blew herself up... I'd have to go back and look... I have them all on either VHS or, the past 2 seasons, on DVD.
