The answer is in the question, you're moving on, leave them behind and soon you'll forget they ever existed. they don't belong in your life anymore.

I would say there is a bit of jealousy going on here because you are going to college. Why not stay friends with them but make new ones. Once you have new friends, then I think the old ones will just fizzle out. If they do keep giving you a hard time then I think you would be happier moving on anyway.

How come did they change their attitude towards you? you better ask yourself why did they change to you? all i know is that sometimes the attitude that is shown to you by other people is just a reflection of what you show unto them, and something have to be talk over and protect your friendship, its nice to have a long time friends.

I think you should keep in touch but quite vagely and concentrate on making new friends and anyway, your so called friends might get jealous that you are making new friends and ignoring them, even though they have been playing up for your attention, so they might like, start being nicer and then you can decide what to do with the rubbish! hope I helped!

if you are curious about why the attitude change, I would ask, they are your friends afterall.....however, if you think it is because of some hidden jealousy because you are going off to college....I would just leave and say to them "I hope me leaving doesn't change things and that we can all be friends" and leave it at that.....burning bridges with anyone doesn't help....that being said...you are going to college and have an amazing opprtunity to meet all kinds of wonderful people, jerks too of course, so enjoy that and broadening your horizons...have fun but study too......

They may be scared that your leaving you behind and your leaving them. They may have an attitude to bridge themselves and mask their sadness. Ask them if anything is wrong and that you'll always be there when you need to talk
