because it does reflect light, but it is only at a certain angle that you can see it, for instance if you take a piece of clear glass and turn it, you can reflect sunlight into someones eyes. You can see transparent object because they are not entirely transparent...sort to speak. It is because they reflect light when viewed at a different angle that we can see it. Again, if you have seen the commercial for Windex Window cleaner where the guy walks into the sliding glass door because it is so "clean" that he cannot see it, it is because he is looking at it in such and angle that it appears as if nothing is there. If you hold up an object to a window, at some point during the day you will see the reflection of that same object reflecting off the window even though it is "transparent". I hope this explains or atleast helps you in someway to understand the properties of transparent objects.

Transparent surfaces usually reflect some of the incident light, particularly at low incidence angles. Therefore we usually see some reflections and can infer that the transparent surface is there.
