I have just been asked to serve my brother-in-law divorce papers. Personally, I am HAPPY to do so, but wondered how others would feel if they were asked to do so.

I was told if you have a "professional" serve the papers, it will cost $35.
And because he is a bum, he probably wouldn't open the door if a professional processor tried to deliver the papers to him.
P.S. He doesn't work.

i drove 6 hours into mexico and served papers for a friend. if you think the guy is a bum any way, and not worried about safety issues............................GET ER DONE.
all you have to do is to hand it to him, ua dont have to explain anything, just hand em off and get gone before he has time to think about it and get pissed. and dont go alone. good luck

Although you may be Happy to do it I think that type of thing is better off done by a professional when My Brother had his ex served she hit the roof she called His Attorney and let him have it and then turned around and asked his attorney what she should do(go figure) so leave this up to a professional dont get in the middle I urge you.My ex sister-in-law was mad at the world including me and I had nothing to do with it.

$35 is cheap. Where I live, professional service costs $79 to $99.
To answer your question, I would never get in the middle of someone elses divorce. That's their business, not yours.

Your sibling (I take it your sister) should NOT have asked you to serve papers on her husband. She should seek out a trusted friend or even the Sherriff's department of her county (they will do it for a fee). Family should never serve paper's for another family member.

Nowayyyy. You should NEVER involve yourself in someone's marriage or divorce. Let the courts or a lawyer deliver them or better yet let the one doing the divorcing do their own dirtywork.

There usually isn't personal service for divorces. They are usually just mailed.

No, I certainly would not get involved in this. I would rather donate the $35.00 and have somebody do it.
