I don't think racism will ever diminish. Its part of our lives forever. I think people have become more tolerant of other races outwardly, but inwardly people still feel ill will toward other races. Some people act on it, but not like they did years ago. In some southern states there is still segregation. I am talking about the deep south. People who just can't get past the differences between races. So, in my opinion it hasn't diminished at all, just not broadcast as openly as it was years ago.

I really don't believe racism has diminished that much since the 1970's. In fact, there are some cases where it is not so much worse than it was back then but manifested in more ways. For instance, I live in Georgia. Sometime in 2000 or 2001 the state flag was changed. When students were forbidden to wear t-shirts that had the Confederate flag on them, many students blamed the black kids in the school and racial tensions came back in the form of fights and other problems. That just shows racism has not diminished and it is not just a black and white issue. Racial tensions exist between all different ethnic groups which is quite sad.

I wouldnt say dimished since there is tons of racism around still. Yahoo Answers is a perfect example. I think people are more aware of other races and understand more, so they can accept more.

It hasn't, so far as I can tell. I have African American neighbors who refer to me as "the white lady across the street". I thought it was cute when I first moved here, but there have been many other times when people have referred to me as "white". I have been white my whole life, but never had it pointed out to me until I moved to SC.
