what are some different ideas for bf / gf tatoos to get? we are from the country and love horses and that type thing.

Wait until you are engaged or married before you get matching tattoos. If you two don't last, you'll regret having a reminder of him for the rest of your life.
That being said, look for something that signifies what you both like. A horse would be fine since it's something you both love anyway. Talk to him about the "what if" you break up. Would you both still like the design, is it something you might get anyway, or is it just for a "couple's thing".

I don't know if you both like Lord of the Rings or not. But I plan on getting the crest of Rohan put on the back of my shoulder for a tattoo. Rohan is the home of the 'horse people'. So the crest is an outline of a rearing horse.
As far as doing it as a couple, a couple friends of mine got their tattoos on opposite shoulders. Other options would be getting a mirror image or a different color pattern. Or two tattoos meaning the same thing but are different images. Either way, it should be meaningful to both of you as well as original! Have fun.

If you say that you love horses, you might want to look at the "Deftones - White Pony logo" It was a title of their album. The pony would be a good idea. No Names!! If you got the pony than you could just get the outline and leave the middle white, while your bf gets the solid pony. You will have to look at the pic to see what I am talking about. Just go to Google and type in: Deftones White Pony. You will get to see the pics. Just an idea :) Hope it helps.

Keep away from your names of each other.
I am 40 yrs.old, and have many tattoos.
38 at last count, but have not checked since waking up.
I can assure you that putting someones name on you, ( unless it is your own name ), is bad luck.
You may live another 40 years, and regret the name and tattoo later, and chances are will drift apart.
If you want advise on tattoos, don't do it! But if you want to have a symbol, get matching hearts ridding on a saddle. But please leave your names off.

Don't get any tatoo. You will be sorry when you are old. If you must, get a tatoo that you can remove easy.

matching (same picture) or complimentary (two things that go together) or half and half (if put together would make up one picture)
