Agriculture science is what women take in college when they don't want to work that hard on a real degree because they would rather spend the time going to frat parties and having lots of boy friends. It's easy and there arn't many worthwhile jobs afterwards. A good school that offeres a PhD would be UF in Florida. Good luck.

The midwest isn't a bad place to start, but the University of California - Davis has a ton of specific agricultural programs and might be good too. A family friend got her PhD there and really liked the place. (And it's part of the best public university system in the country.)

My husband quit school in the 7th grade and I barely made it through highschool. So we wound up working in a facotry where he got hurt and we are now living on a fixed income. If we had been smart and gone to college and done something with our lives, things might be different now. As it was the lifting that cause his back to go out.
So while I don't know anything about the degree you are going for, I need to say I am very proud of you for making something of yourself.
