In the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania there is a place where mules are saddled to take tourists on long rides through the woods and mountains.
Some of the mules are sixteen hands high. All are very gentle. On her vacations from vet school, my daughter worked as a guide. Her job was to ride the lead mule while all the tourists followed. She has ridden uncountable horses, but still likes the mules.

Yes, and it was so dumb, it nearly trotted off the trail and down a cliff. That was also the last time I rode a mule.
