What does that mean? Is it because you really don't like the guy? Is it becuase you don't want to seem like a gold-digger? Could it mean anything else?

I think of it as a casual remark one does when uncomfortable with receiving something from someone, and it doesn't necessarily mean anything else. Then again it could be because you don't like the gift, without meaning you don't like the guy. or then again, hmmm girls... who knows? The possibilities are endless!!

It usually depends on the gift and the guy, it sometimes means wow.... we don't like it, or sometimes we don't want to seem like a gold digger, or it's just that we think they are so incredibly cute for giving us a gift in the first place. Listen for the tone and how they say it and what they do after it's given. A great big hug and a kiss afterwards is a good thing!

It could mean two things.1. That she didn't really like your gift in the first place. or..2.She doesn't want to feel like she owes you something, just because you gave her a gift.

I think sometimes it could be they are uncomfortable and dont know how to react to such a nice gesture... Perhaps a little bit of nerves and excitement...

I dont think it has anyhing to do with not wanting to feel like a " gold digger"

I know from my own perspective I never expect gifts, they are nice and appreciated but sometimes it looks like 'trying too hard,' especially if it is a expensive gift.

I like it when it's 50/50, we take turns to pay when we go out, it's not always down to him.

it just means that "aww, i know i'm saying you didn't have to get me anything, but i like you better now for getting me this gift, keep them coming." women have this annoying thing of not saying exactly what they mean. i'm guilty of it too.

It means that it is a good thing you got the gift. Girls are crazy-- there is no explaining them.

There is the "being humble" perspective...there are women who will receive a gift that way and be secretly pleased.

Isn't it a casual remark that everyone makes not bcos they do not want the present but more of like they just want to be polite?
