First of all, if you're here to tell me that magic/witchcraft is satanic or un-real, then don't tell me. I've heard enough of that. And if you're here to get a good laugh and a few points, fine. Just don't say anything that won't help me. At least give me some info on it or about it.

I have a couple of questions. So it's easier for everyone to read and answer, I put numbers by each question. If you're gonna answer a question, put the number in front of your answer so I know which question please. Thanks.

1.) How does Elvish Magic work? I know it's out there, but how do you make it happen? Are there special needs?

2.) Do you need a circle everytime you perform a spell? It seems like you do.

3.) When doing a ritual, do you have to have others with you while performing? I've noticed in a whole bunch of these, it tells you to do it person by person.

I would appericiate if anyone knows the answers to these. Thanks for helping in advance.

1.) I've never heard of Elvish magick either. Perhaps you are referring to Feri or Faerie magick? If so, of course it does. All magick *works*. If you have any information about the type of magick you are talking about I'd love to see it so I know what it is...

2.) It is said in most places that, yes, you do need to cast a circle whenever you do magick. Casting a circle has so many important uses to it. The circle you cast helps to protect you from any and all harmful energy from entering your sacred space, which is important for any kind of spell or ritual work. This is part of why you are supposed to asperge and smudge the sacred space before casting a circle - to cleanse the purify the area of harmful/negative energies. When you cast the circle it is meant to keep in all the positive energies you invited in with the smudging and asperging, and keep the nasties out.

The circle also keeps the energy you are raising enclosed for when you are ready to release it. Silver Ravenwolf even suggests (in her book, 'Solitary Witch') that casting a circle will help YOU focus by keeping out any unnecessary thoughts that do not relate to what you are doing. (Like what to wear to school/work tomorrow -- silly things that do not relate.)

Some books also suggest that once you become a more experienced practitioner that circle casting becomes less important as you learn to become more and more focused when you work. But it CERTAINLY doesn't hurt! So, always cast a circle. It's for the best in every way! :-)

3.) Rituals can be either solitary or practiced in a group. It depends on which configuration the ritual was written for. I write just about all of my own rituals and spells and they are pretty much ALWAYS solitary ones. (Because I do not belong to a coven.) Don't ever feel like you HAVE to do anything in a group, although being in a group can be a great learning environment because you get to learn from so many people who come from so many different perspectives, backgrounds, and spiritual journeys.

You seem like you are pretty much just starting out in the occult/witchcraft and I would LOVE to chat with you more about it to help you along your path in anyway. If you would like to chat more feel free to message me!

Blessings and Light!

Do you need a circle every time you perform a spell? It seems like you do.

A circle serves a couple of purposes, it is a way to create sacred space, it can serve as a protective space, and it contains energy raised until it is released. Personally, depending on what type of magic I am performing dictates whether a circle is cast or not. Others will disagree with me on this because some feel it is a must. Do what feels right and what you are comfortable with. My first 15 years I ALWAYS cast a circle before performing any rite.

When doing a ritual, do you have to have others with you while performing? I've noticed in a whole bunch of these, it tells you to do it person by person.
No, a solitary practitioner is someone who works alone. Rituals are just as meaningful when worked alone. Not everyone has access to others and not everyone wants to work with others.

Hope this is helpful.

I can cover 2 and 3 for you. I don't know enough about Elvin/Elfish Magick to address that.

As to casting the circle for every spell it depends on the work you are doing. I have worked some "bareback" Magick, and it is a little risky. You leave yourself open to energies and elements that may not be what you want to attract. You don't need an elaborate circle casting ritual if you can keep the circle focused in your mind solidly. Remember ritual is for you to focus your intent. The process of casting the circle, calling the quarters, and invoking your deity, can talk as little as two minutes, or as long as 15. It is up to you. My best advise is that you take the little bit of time to cast the circle. Remember, as ye harm none, do as ye will, also means that you don’t take unnecessary risk with yourself either. That is my take on it.

Coven or not is the bases of your third question. It really doesn’t matter. Many of us work it alone, it is “faster” and more “focused;” however, that is a newer trend. The combined energy of a group can aid in working the Magick. As a practicing solitary, I can’t tell you much about group or coven rituals, but it is not outside the scope of the work. Historically, many would form covens of 13 (it actually represents Jesus and his disciples) and work the Magick as such. Two people give it balance. Three will give it the powers of the Goddess in her phases. The bottom line is that Magick can be done either way.

Hope this helps.

Blessed Be.

Well, it seems you already have the importand questions answered. I shall speak of what the others wished not to.

'Elvish' magic...

Tell me. What research have you done to confirm the existence of such a classification of Magic? Have you studied books and, as a last resort, the internet for your proof of such a style of the Art? I say the internet as a last resort, primarily because there are LOTS of 'wacky' ideas floating around out there, whereas the ability and expence needed to convert these 'wacky' ideas into print, in the form of a sellable book, tends to stop most of the insane ideas from getting that far. Hence research through the medium of the printed word carries far more weight to the serious scholar of the esoteric ways.

I have been a student of the Occult for over twenty years. My mother was a Witch, as was her mother before her, and so on back to the 13th century.
I have heard of many silly beliefs. Believed a few myself in my early years!
I am sorry to say your 'elvish' magic is not real in any sense other than in fictional D & D scenarios(where, incidentally, only Elves can use 'elvish' magic).

The reason I am even bothering to tell you this(like it makes any difference to ME, what you wish to believe in) is simply because I believe more people should experience the REAL Occult Art first hand. I simply do not wish you to waste precious time on 'red herrings'.

Good luck with your journey. It can be a hard one sometimes.

1. I am not sure about Elvish Magick, but the closest I know is Elemental Magicks and Faery Magick, which summons up the energies connected to the Spirits of Nature to assist you. Elves are believed to be of the Fae, and not as docile and serene as seen in Lord of The Rings. Some of the highlights of these magick schools are their ability to cloud the eyes of others, Glamour.

2. Yes, like most have already mentioned the circle protects you from various possible mishaps, and keeps summoned energies focused rather than be dispersed. In summoning of beings, there is always a possibility of a Malevolent being coming forth hearing your call. A well casted circle keeps them at bay The Fae like us... are of a variety of characters some are Gandhis and Mother Teresas while others are War-Mongers.... so, do keep your circle well casted... if the foundation not strong, the rest of your magickal works would also be wishy-washy.

1. I am so sorry- I am familiar with Santaria, celtic magic, native american as well as wiccan and pagan magic but I am not familiar with elvin magic.

2. In all magic I am familiar with, you need an enclosed diagram-some use the pentagram and others use the circle- the circle is a symbol of Life and the force of nature. Yes you need an unending containment- and the circle is the best for my money.

3. The difference between a ritual and a ceremony is that the ceremony requires others as participants or observers. Rituals are either private or semi-private. The ritual is usuall closed to outsiders. Normally it is either for yourself or for one or two others. Rituals are when you are doing magic- ceremonies are when you are symbolizing magic rather than doing magic. I hope this is helpful. Blackwolf

2. A circle must be cast in most rituals for your protection. It is the circle of life, it prevents things getting out into this realm as well as things going into others. 3. A solitary practitioner is capable of performing most spells, a very helpful book to this effect is the series of Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham. You can find these at any good new age shop.

1. You might want to look up fairy magic, but I strongly suggest against it. There are two forms of fairies and elves seelie and unseelie. The unseelie are to be avoided as much as possible the seelie can be helpful, but then one idea of fun for them is going to be a major pain for you.

2. The circle is there to help prevent unwanted outside forces from interfering. It is not always needed, but it is helpful.

3. Some are written and set up for covens, some for the solitary. A group works AS LONG AS the people joining you are willing and focused on the same goal. Both sets of spells can be rewritten to work either way.

They are working harder than ever because people are becoming hip to the spells of the illuminati. That's why they have tea baggers buying guns. To take over by force when the evil spells of world control wear off.

The kind of magic you are describing doesn't exist.

The closest thing to magic that we can do is the type of things David Blaine and Chris Angel do... and these are but the illusion of magic.
