I am not asking for a Capoeira course, it would be hard to learn in Brazil since I'm only going to go for a holiday.

Besides Im already training Capoeira ;)

You're really asking two different questions. If you want to learn or improve your capoeira skills, you can take classes most anywhere in Brazil. People often identify capoeira with Salvador, Bahia, and there is a big scene there. But I learned here in São Paulo, and there are good capoeira acadamies all over the country.

As for historical tourism, there are sundry options all over the country. In the north, for instance, ou can visit the magnificent theater in Manaus, built from imported materials during the Amazon rubber boom. In the extreme south, you can visit the Jesuit missions in Rio Grande do Sul. One good option is the Estrada Real, leading from Minas Gerais to Rio de Janeiro state, the gold route dating to the 17th century. I think another answer mentioned Ouro Preto, a major mining city and a big attraction on the Estrada Real.

Given your interest in capoeira and history, you may want to base your trip in Salvador, the old colonial capital, and make side-trips to other parts of the Northeast.

Good luck

If you go to Brazil on October you can visit the festivals of Santa Catarina, a southern state that has a large number of German-brazilians and Italian-brazilians.
There you can visit the Oktoberfest, a folklorical beer festival held in Blumenau, a city founded by german immigrants in the 1850s.
And Fenarreco, another german festival held in Brusque, a city near Blumenau, this fest was created to divulge the German cuisine.
Marejada is another Santa Catarina festival, created to show the Portuguese cuisine and culture.

The city of OURO PRETO is very historic, as well as RECIFE or BAHIA. If you like Capoeira, then you need to visit the following: BAHIA, FORTALEZA, SALVADOR, RECIFE, and any other major city on the north-east coastline.
