I think you need to stop treating your guns like toys!
I live in texas and no one here ever treats their gun like a toy!
We understand that it is used for defending yourself and your family and we have no respect for anyone who thinks its just a toy for their amusment.
stop giving responsible gun owners a bad name!

Amen! I'm up here in Pennsylvania and I can't stand seeing crap on the news about this or that and blaming the guns. Its not the guns fault!!! I'm sure if they shot themselves in the foot with a gun, they'd probably drop a knife on their toe as well. Its not the weapon's fault, its the persons!!!!!

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by treating your gun like a toy. I enjoy shooting my guns. I didn't buy any of my guns solely for the possibility that one day I might have to shoot somebody in self defense and I know of very few people who have. So, if you believe that my going up into the woods with my friends and an arsenal of weapons and shooting at some targets, beer cans, etc.(an act which causes no harm and has no affect on anybody) somehow gives you a bad name, tough s**t. Get over it!

Great advice.....but allot of legal gun owners are not from the south west...they are collectors from the affluent areas of the nation....hunters from the north, etc......enthusiasts of every sort....those who treat a gun as a toy have no real use of the weapon and therefore should not have it regardless of RIGHTS.

I should give you points for that.

I think the problem is that some people don't share the idea of what a gun is for. For you, you know it is for protection.

But some think it is a symbol for manhood and self esteem. Some think they becomes a bigger person once they own guns.

Very much like how someone thinks when they are behind the wheels.

I live in Oregon and we never, EVER, treat our guns like toys. You may be refering to the inner-city folks who never grew up around firearms but think they need one with no training. These idiots and criminals are the ones who are making life miserable for us honest, knowledgeable owners.

It all boils down to how you were raised and your views on it. My parents raised me up with hunting. Taught me the proper ways of using it. Problem with parents they arent teaching their kids about guns and seeing results of what it does. So kids are finding them laying around and they imitate it like TV or anything else. Not saying TV violence is bad, its just kids pick up habits of others. It is a kids nature. They have to be educated in the area. Most people say take the guns away their wont be problems.....Its true in some sense but in reality its not. Most people in the South understand it, cause of the freedom to go outside and plaster the armodilla digging huge holes in your yard or shoot targets in a safe area.

Living in the country we dont have alot of police so you do have to take precautionary measures. Might take them 10 minutes to respond to a house intruder call. Must defend yourself, not wait on someone to save you. Outside situations you cant use guns cause thats laws being broken. Not trying to cause conflicts but most people who dont understand it fully just tend to have negative opinions on the matter.

it depends how you use it as a "toy". my family has always been big into guns. we made our own range in the outer parts of our town. hunting is a game. so you could include it as a toy in that aspect. hunting is safe w/ the right people. guns can be "toys" and be safe.
