I personally loved the book, and I saw preview for it at the theater. I was excited, but I'm afraid Hollywood isn't going to do it justice. What do you think?

I read it, but for some reason I didn't love it as much as many others did. However, he wrote a collection of short, memoir-like stories called Magical Thinking that I like quite a bit.

As for the movie - I personally feel short stories tend to make better movies. And I try to remember that a movie is a totally different form, with this difference particularly difficult to deal with in first person books with a heavy narratorial voice. Therefore, I try not to expect a simple filming of the book, but rather an adaptation of a book to a visual format.

the movie version of a well liked book is ALWAYS somewhat of a disappointment....deep end of the ocean comes to mind. I will probably go see running with scissors anyway just for fun. I loved the book (in all of its bizarre glory).

it's my experience that movies are never as good as the book. That is simply because while Reading one has their own visions, and thoughts. In a movie, one is subjected to another's interpretation

Nope. But I always have wondered what happened to him. Hopefully, he got arrested and is in jail somewhere.
