Ohh honey do not do castor oil! it is so dangerous to both you and your child! Please promise to not do that again. there are many natural ways to help and bring on labour. the key word is help. try this daily, make sure to go for a nice long and some what brisk walk, come home have a hot bath, then procede to have sexual intercourse(if you have a partner) make sure to have him ejaculate inside you and then stay laying down. there are hormones is sperm that help to soften the cervix. If you are with out a partner try masturbating. Usually the orgasam with that is very strong and those unterin contractions can help move labour along as well.
like I said these can only help, not guarentee. babies come when babies want to. I should know I am on my third! LOL

I do feel your pain...I am almost 38 weeks and have felt ready to get the baby for weeks, however with that being said, I have been cursed with daily almost constant contractions for over a week and still am only dilated 1 cm and 90% effaced. You DO NOT want contractions until you are IN LABOR! They are uncomfortable, often downright painful and so far have done nothing to get me any closer to actually having the baby. I am going to be induced or have a c-section in a week (i have gestational diabetes) and CAN'T WAIT to get her out! But do be thankful that you don't have contractions all night long every night and all day everyday...they are a huge pain!!! Good luck and I hope there is light at the end of your tunnel!!!

Well, try to be patient. I know it's easier said than done but obviously since the castor oil didn't "work" then you know that child isn't coming one second before she's ready right? Just a side note, did you read about all of the dangers of castor oil before you downed the entire bottle?? Chin up, you WILL make it, jsut set your mind to it that you CAN do it!

it natural to be so anxious toward the end, and it is VERY uncomfortable because the baby is so big (as you know now). castor oil...i wish that people will stop telling others that this works! most of the time it just makes a woman sick! the only thing i've really heard that can work, is sex! and, i'm not making it up, so if you can...try it! good luck to you, and i know time is a hard thing to take!!!
CONGRATULATIONS on your baby, it will be over soon, and then you can enjoy your baby. So, to that...get all the sleep that you can now, cause you're going to need it when the baby comes home!!!

Seriously, I was in your same position six months ago...go walk around the mall or your neighborhood, taking frequent breaks because I know it's hard for you to stand much less walk...it's probably almost physically impossible to have sex at this point, but maybe some foreplay (massage the perinium) will help. If your doctor thinks you are healthy enough to go into labor on your own, then you should do it...as for taking anything to induce it yourself: DON'T it can be very dangerous. Most likely, if you haven't gone into labor on your own by your due date, your doctor will induce you.

Nipple stimulation they say works, and sex if conditions are right your mans seman may start labor because of the prostoglandins in it. Ewwww how was that castor oil though? I'm surprised it didn't make you throw up I know it would me. I'm 34 weeks and am dying already I know this baby is bigger than my first because my lower back hurts so bad!!!! I was crying last night asking my mother in law if the doctor would induce labor, she just laughed at me.

Wow..I've never heard of castor oil doing nothing..I mean it won't help you go into labor, but you should have at least spent the night in the bathroom....Semen contains prostaglandins that will help dialate the cervix..If you think you can stand to have sex, I know most womn can't at this point..but it is the only natural method I know of to get things moving..Also a lot of walking is good

I'm in the same situation. My son is due next Thursday and I haven't even started dilating yet. Have you talked to your doctor about getting induced? My son likes to move all night and it hurts like hell. I think he's big also. It doesn't seem like he wants to come out right now. I mean he's showing no sign at all that he's ready. My doctor said that walking helps out a lot.

There is alot of things you can try, sex is one thing, if you are sexually active, the male seman can stimulate contractions, also walking helps cuz the gravity is helping the baby move down more,Nipple stimulation, Some women massage their nipples as a way to induce labor, there are other ones but i think those are prolly close to the safe ways

DON'T LISTEN TO KITTIEROGERS it's not harmful at all to have sex the entire time, it does help both of my doctor's told me to have sex, the semen has a chemical in it that helps, go to the park and swing that always gave me contractions...i'm serious, and I tried castor oil with both kids and NOTHING, it was annoying because it was so gross to drink. Swinging on the swings at the park, sex, bumpy car rides...pressure points on your feet...good luck!
