People say not to because after a bath you don't have any natural oils to protect the skin. Tanning oils help but will burn you without natural oils on the skin as well. Wait 6 hours. If you shower in the morning tan after 6pm in the evening. If you shower at night tan in the morning.

Just make sure your skin is completely dry. The water will magnify the rays and you'll end up with a burn before you know it. And it will be very uneven if some of you is wet, and some of you is dry.
