Normally people will write thank you greeting cards. I guess now most popular thank you gift would be gift cards >.> Cuz you can buy anything with it >.> (as long as cash supplies)
Though, I personally feel like a good thank you gifts would be something you personally made. Like maybe cakes? Or something that you put your time and heart into it. Though, sometimes just a 'Thank you' will make someone happy too.
Just my 2 cents XD Not so bright idea, but just wanna help >.<

If its for the whole office, concider an nice basket with coffee, cookies, one coffee cup per co-worker, some tea bags, sugar, creamer. Something to put in the break room for everyone to enjoy. Maybe personalize the coffee cups with the co-workers names on them.

it depends...
there are a few gift sites you can check out. i'd reccomend the ones i've actually used personally: www.zippergifts.com, www.akagourmet.com, www.redenvelope.com, www.bluechopsticks.com.
they all have excellent gifts, and you won't spend any more than you want to.
hope it helps, good luck.

coffee cards to nearby places. coupons for free slices of pizza or some other cheap lunch thing. Home made cookies always go over well. action figures that look like them (you know like the librarian, freud, etc. weird ones)

no food, doesn't last long.
I'd say scented candles, stationery,an instrumental cd, or a gift certificate.

something edible, that he/she can share with friends or family. my family and i once sent a thank you gift, we gave them pastries and they invited us to have coffee (ate those pastries) and had a chat with them.
