Jon Scieszka (correct spelling, for any of you who will look for this book, and I hope you do!) is currently the "Guess the Author" author at our public library. THE STINKY CHEESEMAN is hysterically funny, and I can also highly recommend THE TRUE STORY OF THE THREE LITTLE PIGS. Your children will love these books, and especially if you read them with the child!

Synopsis:
Looks at some really stupid tales including "Chicken Licken", "The Princess and the Bowling Ball", "The Really Ugly Duckling" and "Jack's Bean Problem".
Review:
Scieszka has come up trumps again! As a primary school teacher I have found 'The Stinky Cheeseman' an invaluable source of entertainment! His adaptataions of traditional fairy stories are not only hysterical but are also great for inclusion of adapted traditional tales in the National Literacy Strategy.
His style and humour keep the children entertained but also provide a forum for discussing the use of illustration in telling a story, adaption, bias and humour.
I would highly recommend 'The Stinky Cheeseman' for children's own personal reading and as a class read during shared reading in the literacy hour - or even better just for fun and giggles!!

I used to work at a Daycare Center. They loved being read "The Stinky Cheese Man!" They also liked the other short stories.

Must have read it to my friend's children 20 times after she read it to her children 50 times. That is a great humorous book.

Heck yes. My parents just bought it for my son, actually. Always thought it was a bizarre, excellent book.
