If you still have the money order stub from when you originally bought it, then take that and the m.o. he sent you back to where you got it and ask them for a refund. I'm pretty sure there's some kind of small fee but maybe not. Also, you usually have to do it within a certain amount of time.
P.S. - you can't cash the money order itself, because it is not written to you, it is written to someone else.

I guess you can have the money order cancelled at the same agency that issues the order. It may cost some admin fee.

oooh, being that you had the information filled out on the m.o. i think would make it difficult....
There is usually an 800 number on the m.o. depending on the company you used (western union?) i would give them a call and find out the right method to do so.
