Since it sounds kindof personal to you and you have the photos Id be glad to make you one. If you dont do it for yourself. Than here are some programs to choose from.

There is a software called Microsoft PhotoStory (current version 3). You can download the same from here:
It plays a slide show of the photographs plus adds a music or say.. your own recorded comments in the background. Available only for Genuine Windows XP users. More details are available on the site mentioned above.
... and I am very sorry to hear that you lost your friend.

Depends... Do you have a Mac or a Windows machine?
Mac's have iDVD where you can assemble the pictures into a slideshow, add music and transitions, and then burn onto a DVD. If you want something more artsy, you can import the photos into iMove and use the Ken Burns effect to zoom in and out of each photo (like a Ken Burns documentary). YOu can also use different songs (cutting and splicing them together).

There is a program out there but it is very expensive. The easiest and cheapest way is to use Microsoft Powerpoint. Very easy to do and comes with instructions and hints

Oh, that's sad about your friend. I hope everything turns out alright.
I would suggest youtube. I've never done it myself, but they explain how to do it there.
Good Luck!
