IF YOU DO NOT OWN ONE FIND SOMEONE THAT DOES AND ASK IF YOU CAN JUST COME OVER AND HELP TEND TO THE ANIMALS,BRUSHING,FEEDING,STALL WORK,WASHING,CLEANING HOOVES, THERE ARE MANY TASKS INVOLVED WITH OWNING AND CARING FOR HORSES AND MOST PEOPLE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE HELP IF YOU ARE SINCERE AND REALLY WANT TO LEARN MOST HORSE PEOPLE WILL HELP YOU GET STARTED.IF YOU FIND THAT YOU DO NOT ENJOY ANY OF THESE DAILY TASKS YOU WILL KNOW FOR SURE YOU DO NOT NEED TO GET A HORSE. YOU WILL LEARN A LOT JUST DOING THESE THINGS ON A DAILY/WEEKLY BASIS JUST BY SEEING HOW A HORSE COMMUNICATES BY HIS BODY LANGUAGE,HAPPY,IRRITATED,EXCITED,SCARED,ETC AND THAT IS A BIG PART OF THE HORSE RELATIONSHIP.IF YOU PROVE YOURSELF WORTHY MOST FOLKS WILL ASSIST YOU BY LETTING YOU HAVE SOME SADDLE TIME ON THEIR HORSES ALSO.IT IS HARD WORK BUT ENJOYABLE IF YOU REALLY WANT TO BE AROUND HORSES. GOOD LUCK!!!

Volunteer your services at a local stable. You would be surprised at the number of people that need someone to ride their horses to get them some exercise! I wish I had known this when I was younger, but a friend of mine who boarded a horse years ago said many people there had teens come ride their horses because they did not have the time. If you are not that experienced, maybe you could start out by helping owners brush them & clean out stalls in payment for some riding lessons. Also, check with any local large animal vets to see if they have a mentoring/shadowing program in which you could participate to learn more about horses. Good luck!

Try to find an instructer to take riding lessons from and try to see if there is a way to help out at the stable and maybe a horse owner will let you get involved and excercise his/her horse when the owner doesn't have time.

all of the above answers are good. Stable owners love volunteer help, unless they have a liability problem. The owners and other horse owners will observe how helpful you are and will probably let you get involved with their horses. Maybe even give you a discount or free riding lessons.

I would try and find a reptuable instructor and take lessons. When you are ready, you could try full or half leasing a horse. That would help give you an idea to see if horse ownership is right for you.

I had that same problem, I found a stable nearby and offered to clean stalls. It worked and I had fun being with the horses.
