they put it off until your at least 17 week becasue all human start off as girls in the womb, during the 3rd to fourth month things start to shift if they look to early the process may not be finished and it could be wrong by the 18th week for sure the process is finished even 17 weeks may be pushing it.... but if your baby works with the tech you should be able to tell at the major ultrasound,,, just remember they may get moody if you keep asking them while they are doing it because your baby sex is secondary to the health of your child, make sure they have 4 chambers of the heart, a stomach, a formed brain, and functioning liver, and kidneys, fully formed spine and 4 limbs, them worry about the sex,,,,,, Good Luck and enjoy everything becasue it goes by fast

In all things I read they say they could possibly tell around 16 - 17 weeks but the odds are your doctor won't do the ultrasound until closer to 20 weeks. I think a lot of that has to do with insurance only paying for a certain amount unless there are complications and they want to be sure you can tell because there is a margin of error for how far along you are exactly. I find out on Monday and I will be about 19 weeks then. The wait will feel like forever...but it is truely a small speck in time so just enjoy your pregnancy =) congrats!

Well, I had an ultrasound yesterday and I'm 17 weeks. I don't want to know the sex of the baby, but she said she could tell me. So, I guess it just depends on the tech and equipment. I wouldn't trust any definite "answer" to whether it's a boy or girl until you're closer to 20 weeks. My friend had an ultrasound at 16 weeks and said they thought it could be a girl, but didn't want to get her hopes up. She found out a couple of weeks later that it was a girl.

Good luck to you and your baby (whatever you have)! I affectionately call my baby "Peanut"!!

Anywhere between 18-20 weeks depending on the technician. I had an ultrasoud done at 19 weeks and they were able to see clearly that I'm having a boy. Only a few more to go...hang in there!

hopefully? 20 wks. they can make a wager at 12 wks, yet do not ignore that even what they're saying at 20 wks might want to correctly be incorrect. So at 12 wks, the threat of an inaccurate wager is way more effective. the in uncomplicated words thanks to entice close for particular is to take dna, which they honestly in uncomplicated words get from amniocentesis, and that is no longer exciting.

They told me when I was 17 weeks...so it might be possible if the baby is in the right position.
