After 5 years of marriage, this comes from plenty of personal experience. Being in love with a best friend means that you can talk about a great deal and know you will get listened to when you really need it. The level of trust is very deep. No means no during sex regardless what point it we're at or the reason why. There is no fairy tale happy ending, but compromise and willingness to admit fault in an argument happens right along side the willingness to forgive. Interests are not perfectly matched, but enough are to at least agree on movies or places to go eat. Then again, there is plenty of time and trust to spend time apart with friends or alone without worrying about the other.

Finding a true friendship and loving relationship is like looking for a car. You can buy the red, shiny, super fast sports car. But that is exactly what you are going to get, a red, shiny, super fast sports car.

You are not going to get a dependable car, you are going to get a car that demands a lot of attention and expensive maintenance.

You are not going to get a car that gets you home safely in a blinding snowstorm, you are going to have a car that gets stuck in a snow bank on the side of the road.

You are not going to get a car that grows and accomodates you and your family as you get older and change, you will have a car that has run out of its usefulness in your life.

The partner you want is the person you can trust to be by your side in the worst of situations. This is the person you want to have in a foxhole with you and still want to have them cuddled up with you by your side.

A person who is loving to all people, places and things.

Well, my boyfriend and I have been dating for almost 2 years now and it feels like I have known him all my life. We have that kind of relationship where we can goof off, be funny, and not worry about a thing in front of eachother. It feels nice because I can have no makeup on and he doesnt care. Hes not just my boyfriend, but my bestfriend. But if a guy can make a girl laugh, he can do anything. I can trust him with all of my personal things. But, if you want a healthy relationship, let him hangout with his friends too. I hogged him from his bestfriend for a long time and it led us downhill. He needs friends, just like we do. But anyways, you can tell if a guy really loves you. Its not hard to see. But watch out for the fakers. They can break your heart in 2 seconds.

It is always wanting what is best for the other person and suporting each other on a daily basis in everything. It is enjoying each others company and being able to have a conversation about nothing. You have to honestly "LIKE" each other. My husband is my best friend!

Its like having your best friend with you all the time, with all the quirks, arguments, dislikes, likes, and knowing to forgive and forget. With the benefits of course.
1 year of marriage for us, I think we are out of the honeymoon stage (so to speak). We were together for 2 years before we got married, nothing has changed. (but the name).
The fun and excitment is still there.

I'm divorced...
...so, I don't know and I'm doing this, from now on...

I think that if you're friends first and then become a bonding pair lovers then...
that can be best.
