You can do this at the US Copyright Office – see the last 3 links in the source box. The application is fairly simple & the cost is $45 per application.
Despite what others state, a "poor man's" copyright is NOT the same as registering it. Here's what the US Copyright Office has to say:
"The practice of sending a copy of your own work to yourself is sometimes called a 'poor man’s copyright.' There is no provision in the copyright law regarding any such type of protection, and it is not a substitute for registration."
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Copyrights are registered with the U.S. Copyright Office at:
http://www.copyright.gov/
The process is simple.

unofficially there is something you can do until you get the real copyright (which will cost a pretty penny)...send your written material to yourself and dont open it.....i'm not sure if this works 100% but you might look it up and see.

try bandreg.com it has alot of info on that stuff...also look copywrighting music in search....or a simple way is to mail it to yourself and don't open it until you have true label/copywright...the post date/name adress will prove you are the writter of that work. Goodluck!
