I was at a workshop and we used these rulers that had the middle cut out and had a sliding device that you put the pencil in so you could use the ruler as a compass. (Holding one end of the ruler and moving the pencil, created a perfect arc.) I think they would be great for my class but don't know where to find them. Does anyone know where I can order them?

Are these guesses? Or do you know they are there? Why a stationary store??

MissInspired: Yes I did search places, Staples, Office Max, Holcombs (teacher store), and Walmart. If it were that easy, I would not have posted the question. The closest thing I found was at Office Max but it wasn't exactly what I had in mind. I surmise what you bought was a PROTRACTOR with a ruler at the bottom. As a math teacher, I do know the difference between a compass and a protractor.
