Me=Jealous of you and your featured question!

Well, it makes people feel good because they know people feel good about THEM. The truth is, appearance has a lot to do with a lot of peoples judgement. So when you look good, or you're beautiful, then things come easier and people are easier with you. That makes you feel good and gain self-assurance. You know someone is not talking about how bad you look because you look good.

Because this them society is shallow. People are trained to give more importance to the outside look than to anything else, people are bombed all day long with commercials and promotions that show this male and female model in "shape" so people think this is the way to be. How ironic 2 tennis player or swimmers are shown in a commercial and the commercial is for cigarettes, or this body builders enjoying a lot of beers when is known that beers give you belly. Do you see what I mean? Mostly of the people have forgotten that the important things that really make us humans never, never will come from outside, that important things that make us humans coming from inside: love, morality, honesty, ideas, compassion, kindness, hospitality, etc. May be isn't to late to change back all that, but is up to us, humanity need to change and stop judging people for the way they look and start to see what's inside of a person, once people had learned to appreciate the others by for what's inside then humans will start be real happy because we will be appreciating the others with the heart.

Its a fairy tale, made up by the commercialists so you will buy the newest of everything. I know I am good so I don't need to look good, and I have tested this over the years to know that one really feels good by doing good, not by looking good. So you have a majority of people who think only of theselves looking good and you wonder why the shootings at High Schools like Columbine occure? Well, continue to be a follower of fashion and be an upstanding member of the problem because the majority is wrong more often than it is right, but it looks good.

Well, I don't know. perhaps we should ask a homeless person that smells of garbage and has not bathed in a month how he/she feels. Do you think if they cleaned up and combed their hair and looked good that they would no longer be homeless? I doubt it. It might make you feel better but that's about it.

People feel good about different things and looking good is important to some people and others could care less.
Looking good does not make you any better a person or a homeless person any less if they do not look good. We are what we are period. All the crap on the outside is smoke and mirrors and when you strip naked or strip the homeless person naked they are still the same person.

Adorning yourself with nice clothes or jewelry or polishing your shoes does not change a damn thing about you except the amount of money you will have left afterwords.

I believe that age has a lot to do with "looking good makes people feel good". I can remember in my 20's,30's and even 40's, looking good was important to me. Now that I'm 64, this is not an issue at all in my life and isn't to most of my friends. My teasing attitude is, "I'm not going to be the cutest one at the party anyway, even if I put on designer clothes"!!! As we grow older and realize time is passing quickly, we take on new values, etc.
I love thinking back when that size 2 I just knew made me cute!!!!!

Because you're not so self-conscious! When you feel like you look good your confidence comes out and the insecurities are left behind. Haven't you ever had a bad hair day or your make-up didn't look right? Weren't those times when you felt bad about yourself? I know when I go through that I tend to be quiet, let outspoken or confident. But when I look good, I just feel better.

I'm assuming you are talking about having peers view you with approval and not the physical meaning.

Basically I develop an "IDEA" that other's approval of me brings or maintains a sense of security.

Next, I act in a "try and see" mode - acting a certain way and looking at others responses. Based on their observed response I mimic the behavior over and over with the hope that it will bring a sense of security and thus "feeling good".

No matter what your style may be, when you look good you feel good! Self esteem and an aura of confidence always projects a positive image; That you're in control of your life! What's better then taking a shower, putting on a little makeup, "essence" and stepping into a favorite dress or a fun outfit! Even if you life is in a shambles, dressing to impress (yourself primarily) is rule 1 to the beginning of a "feel good" time...

Because looking good is a sign of good health and, therefore, it is a way to attract a healthier mate in return. Unfortunately, civilization has tweaked this abit. Now, amount of wealth is right up there with "looking good." They don't necessarily work hand in hand. Just take a look at all the rich and successful people in this world who have beautiful mates. Of course, most of them are men and many of them do not look good.

Its our nature to want pleasing images around and reflected back to us and that can differ from culture to culture but matters not what but if the majority of the society we live in finds it pleasing, whatever the it,then we want to measure up for that means acceptance. Acceptance by our mate, neighbors and those we encounter in daily life makes us feel worthy. The standard in the US Today is slim, pretty, young.Put someone in a fat suit and the way they are treated in general is way different than before the fat suit. We can be at home by ourselves totally pleased at our reflection but if once outside and we get stares and demeaning comments and even ridicule, laughter and so on-once home again the same reflection will not be pleasing anymore for rejected by our peers.
