Yes it's a sin against your partner and your marriage. It isn't unforgivable, but it would take time to replace the lost trust and to get over the pain and to wholly forgive.
If the betrayed partner can't really put it behind him/her, a reconciliation might not work, but people might be surprised at how often it does.

You really don't mean to sound like you can't answer this, right? This is just one of those days. If it wasn't a sin then it would be OK to stay single & just go from partner to partner.

The Bible does say that adultery is a sin, but so is fornication (sex without marriage). However, we are imperfect, not perfect like God, and therefore, we do imperfect things. Sin is sin to God...there is no "worse" or "less worse" sin. Lying, stealing, killing, adultery...all the same to Him.

yes it is a sin to have an affair while married and afterwards. it is a sin to even lust. the bible states we must be married and have relations with our spouse only.
