i hold in all of my farts and let them go at night so no one has to smell/hear them. the average person male or female passes gas 14 to 16 times a day.

It depends, on a normal day, maybe 2-3 times per hour. If I ate something really spicy, maybe 4-5 times per hour. If I have to take a poop or have to take one soon, maybe once every 5 minutes or so and those generally smell the worst.
I was always a rather gassy person, so my amount may be quite a bit more than your average person.

It's normal to pass gas, but if your farting all day you might have a problem or your diet needs to be changed.
I use to pass gas a lot, but I added more fiber to my diet and guess what. Gas Free
You can go to a clinic and check to see what is going on, you might be constipated and need more fiber.
