sims pc game problem?

ok basicly i made new characters for my main family to make friends and get promotedbut when this new character walk by my house they cant go back home.they just stand there at the end of the road of my house. help plz

Either
- go back to neighborhood view and then back to the house
Or
-quit the game and re load it
