Karma is a condition, not a destiny according to the Indian philosophy. It is only one of the five factors involved in the accomplishment of any act, which are the basis or centre from which we work (Adhisthan), Doer (Karta), the instrumentation of nature (Karana), efforts (Chesta)and the Fate (Daiva).

The last is the power or powers other than human, the cosmic principle which stands behind, modifying the work and disposing of its fruits in the shape of act and its reward. There are certain factors in our life which are determined for us by forces over which we have no control. We do not choose how or when or where or in what condition of life we are born. On the theory of rebirth, even these are chosen by us. It is our past Karma that determines our ancestry, heredity and environment.

Karma:
in Indian philosophy, the influence of an individual's past actions on his future lives, or reincarnations. The doctrine of karma reflects the Hindu conviction that this life is but one in a chain of lives (samsara) and that it is determined by man's actions in a previous life.

While destiny:
1 : something to which a person or thing is destined : FORTUNE
2 : a predetermined course of events often held to be an irresistible power or agency. Synonym: see FATE

So, no, karma is not the same as destiny

No, karma is what you put out into life and get back from life. Karma and destiney are actually the opposite of each other. Destiny says its going to happen no matter what you do. Karma allows you to have a say in the path you take. Live a good life and karma will reward you with good things.
