It is true that the urge to clean your home and make everything perfect for the new baby is called nesting. However, it doesnt mean that your baby is coming soon. There are several things that do mean that baby is soon to be on the way like the "dropping" of your belly means that baby has turned and is headed downward towards the birth canal and will probably be coming within the week. Good luck new mommy!

G'day Baby06,
Thanks for the question.
Hopfully, your baby will not come too soon as it will be premature if born before the 37th week.
The nesting phenomemon is common in pregnant women. It often sets in about the fifth month and is strong as you get in your ninth month. This is why it is described as a sign that you will be having your baby soon.
It is a common phenomenon in animals with birds going through the same process. You should be careful. In your case, it is understandable given that the baby will come sometime in the next month. You should be careful in the projects that you undertake so that you don't overdo it. In particular, painting, cleaning out the kitter litter and tasks where you are exposed to dangerous products such as oven cleaning should be avoided. You should also make things comfortable for yourself such as preparing to go to hospital.
I have attached some sources for your information.
Best wishes to you, your partner and your baby.

It is an old wives tale. Old wives tales are sometimes true but not even close to always being true.
We have some animal instincts left in us from millions of years ago. Think of an animal (like a cat) getting ready to give birth. They tear up paper and get all nested in.
With my 2nd pregnancy i "nested" the entire pregnancy. It was not fun. I could just not sit still I had to be busy busy busy or I would feel like my skin was crawling. I couldn't even sit down to watch a movie (which is one of my favorite things to do) without having my hands busy. I started sewing things for the baby and doing other such crafts for baby's room. It was crazy!
Good luck to you and congrats on your pregnancy and upcoming birth.

Not necessarily, I nested for the last 3 months of my last pregnancy, cleaning cooking, everything I could do. I loved it, but it didn't mean a thing for me. There is an extreme energy burst before labour, anywhere from a day before, to just hours before, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too much yet. You are close though, and who knows, you might just be gearing up. Hang on, the next thing you know you will be holding that little one, thinking, oh if I could put you back for a minute I could just get a little bit done.

No, old wives tale. I cleaned the whole time I was pregnant with my first child. Didn't clean at all with either my second or third child. However, from cleaning a lot, you could be moving your body in a way that could cause labor. Good luck .

I don't remember ever having an urge to clean anything the whole time I was pregnant with my son. I'd heard of "nesting," but I'm pretty sure I never expirenced it.

Maybe, you just needed to FINALLY, clean out that ol closet.
Good luck with your baby.
