I've lived in the North Shore all my life but I still know so little about Boston. We need to schedule a meeting with her birth family and we always do it in Boston because it is a center-point for all of us. We need to think of cost because her birth mother is struggling financially and we don't want to pay high admission fees for her and her other three kids. We've been to the Frog Pond a few times and that is getting old. The kids range from 10 to 20 plus (also I have a 2 year old).

Thank you all so far - but I forgot to specify that we are scheduling this meeting for a Sunday because my hubby can't take time off. His workplace doesn't offer that kind of stuff and I'm a SAHM.

Boston, like many other cities, does not offer too many things to do for free sadly. Frog pond, like you menioned, is good. Other places that are fun to walk around would be like the Waterfront area, because the kids might enjoy seeing the ships. Fanuel Hall is fun, because of the street performers and little shops to at least walk around. Same would apply for some areas of the North End, where you could get away with just walking around and maybe going to a little bakery shop. Then there are the Boston Commons and Public Gardens, where the swan boats are only like $2.00. . . . .I think both the MOS and Aquarium offer discounted afternoons, but not free.

I think the Boston Aquarium used to have free afternoons on Wednesdays, that's something to check out. Also, if you know any teachers and can borrow their MTA card, you can get into some other places for free or reduced price. Some companies also offer free tickets to area attractions for their employees, so you might want to check where you work if they have such a program.
