This question is funny and insulting at the same time. The only people who don't have a voice in America are the ones who don't vote. Everyone have a voice. So before you say the people of America pretty much have no power over their own country, ask yourself have I voted?

we didn't. we did sell off most of the useful pulpits though. you don't tend to hear any real people in media, rush limbaugh and michael moore are both cartoons of the groups they represent. almost everything you see on tv, in the movies or hear on the radio was made by one of 5 companies that own and distribute content: disney, viacom, aol/tw, news corp and clear channel.
what we have left is books, the internet, and our own small voices. the problem is not a lack of voice but of will. research and publish, protesting and now blogging... those were the tools that were forged by our forefathers and we still have them if we choose to use them.

How about on the day 5 hypocritical Supreme Court Justices said, ....
"None are more conscious of the vital limits on its judicial authority than are the members of this Court, and none stand more in admiration of the Constitution's design to leave the selection of the President to the people." (From Bush v. Gore.)

When people stopped listening to reasonable arguments that acknowledged and respected both sides of the argument. People aren't interested in solutions anymore, they just want to see drama and one side losing no matter what the consequences. Therefore the loudest, shrillest, most bullheaded opinions are what's being broadcast.
