My fiance had a very dark charcoal suit that I'm encouraging him to wear to attend my uncles wedding. I've told him that charcoal is acceptable for the wedding but I'd like some other opinions. Since my dress will be soft garnet, we were thinking about getting a garnet shirt for him to wear...let me know what you think!

I don't think color really matters all that much as long as you look nice. I wore a black dress to my sisters wedding and nobody cared. You don't always have to follow the color etiquette regarding what you wear to a wedding these days. As long as you are dressed appropriately and not hanging out or isn't too tight and revealing then it doesn't matter what color you wear. All eyes are going to be on the bride anyway.

Guys can (and should) wear dark suits to a wedding. I think instead of the garnet shirt, maybe a white shirt with a garnet tie. A dark suit with a dark shirt will be too much. I don't even know what color tie goes with a garnet shirt?Don't forget the dark shoes and socks. Good luck planning your own wedding!

Th rule of don't wear black to a wedding doesn't completely hold water. For example for an evening wedding it's ok to wear black. For a day wedding not so much, even tho the ppl who can to mine did. Don't match too much you don't want to look like you're going to a prom.

Not wearing black to a wedding doesn't count for guys. What you're thinking would be completely appropriate.

I don't think so, it's a dark brownish color...

I see more of dark blue being mistooken for black more then anything else (a reall, REALLY, dark blue).
