I sent about 15 resumes on Monday and so far, I only got one call back. I had my interview with them yesterday and I think it went well. They told me they'll call me back next week. As for the other companies, should I wait a few more days for them to call me or should I just accept the job offer from the company that interviewed me. How long does it usually take for companies to call their applicants for interviews?

One company that I worked for would run their ad for 2 weeks. They did not look at any of the resumes that came in until 1 week after the ad was finished. Then the hiring manager would sit down with this ENORMOUS stack of resumes and make 3 piles. Pile #1 was people that she thought were good, #2 was so-so, and #3 was put directly in the trash because the applicants were clearly not qualified for the position. Then she would start trying to find time when she was not already on the phone to call these people and make appointments for interviews. If someone sent their resume in on the first day that an ad ran, and they were on top of pile #1 it would be a minimum of 3 weeks before they would get called for an interview. If they were in pile #2 it might be 5-6 weeks if no candidate from pile #1 was hired. If their resume was in pile #3 it went into the trash, so they were never going to get a call. This place never sent out follow up letters after interviews.

The point I am trying to make here is this, if you are happy with the offer that you have gotten you should accept the position. After all, a bird in the hand beats two in the bush every time.

Depending on the job and the amount of respondents, it can take us up to 10 days to just screen the response.

Then we have to start calling, setting up interviews and doing the in person interviews. So, say 3 weeks start to finish.

If you got a response in less than a week, it means that you are a "dead fit" for the position you applied for. It doesn't happen that often, believe me.

So - you have a decision to make... If you liked the job and feel you will do well there you need to seriously consider accepting if they call you back. Otherwise, wait for the other companies to respond and make a decision from a field of possibilities.

It depends on how many applicants they are looking at. Could take days, could take weeks for them to call you back. If the first place offers you the job and you like the pay/job, take it.
