I don't remember the title of the movie, it was undoubtedly some romantic something my mother wanted to see, but I do remember the theater. It was probably 1954 or 55, long before they started putting 6 screens in a building about the size of a two car garage, and the place was enormous. Thick red carpet, and the seats all upholstered in red, indirect lighting set in the walls, and, when the movie would begin, there were about four curtains to drawn back to reveal the screen. I was really great.

The first movie I ever remember seeing was some sort of funky animated thing about a giant. It used some sort of predecessor of claymation, but it was a really bad movie. The giant dies by being strangled by a rope in a bell tower - it was not a good sight for a 3 or 4 year old boy. Also, I went to the restroom by myself and was threatened by two teenagers with a switchblade who told me they were going to kill me. I would say this was about 1961 at the Plaza Theater in Carrollton, Texas. I would say that the children's ticket there was about 25 cents for the Saturday matinee. It went up to 35 cents by the time I was in 3rd or 4th grade, then by 1968 it was a whopping 50 cents.

I think the first movie I saw in a theater was Disney's "Song of the South" when I was in fourth grade in the mid 1970s.

I do remember, however, that the most crowded movie I ever saw was "E.T." --- at a local drive-in where the wait to get a parking spot was over an hour, and several miles, long.

I don't remember what year it was, but the first movie I actually remember seeing in a theater was "Charlotte's Web." I remember it because it was the first time I went without my parents, my big brother took me.
I'm sure I went with my parents before this, but I don't remember those. I couldn't have been more than six years old at the time. It came out in 1973. I have no idea what it cost.

My first movie I saw on a movie screen was Bambi. My mom took me and my brother to see it at a drive-in theater in our old beat up stationwagon. She pulled in backwards so we could lay in the back and watch.
