On DIY I learned how to prepare styrofoam for making ornamental type castings to go on walls, etc. You start with the styrofoam shape of the intended peice. Apply a mesh over the entire styrofoam. Then apply a primer base, colored to your liking. The primer will adhere to the mesh. Sand can be added to primer for texture. Let dry then place on you location. But I need a piece about 6 feet by one foot, 2 inches thick. Also need a ring cirlce made of styrofoam.

Go to a home center and ask the for DOW board it comes in 4x8 sheets and you can get it up to 4in thick
