Water boy gives an educated and correct answer. The people who come to our country illegally, do so because they don't have a chance to do it legally. We should determine how many workers do we need, if any ( looks like we do ) and give them visas in their country of origin. We do that with the highly skilled workers.

Yes, and that should change according to whether we need ditches dug or fruit picked.
Favoritism is built into immigration law. So, to be legal, yes we have to show favoritism. Is it right? Who knows. The constitution and bill of rights assures us that all men are created equal and have equal opportunities. Go figure, either the constitution or the immigration laws are flawed, because they contradict in philosophy.
