add the fact that most rappers just steal the music from other songs and don't play instruments (Except The Roots; they're OK)

don't get me wrong ... there is some hip hop worth mentioning like Talib Kwalib ... but, seriously, he must be put to shame to be in the same sentence as most rap groups ... by the way, Is Lil' Jon even an artist or some dumb-butt shouting out yeah!

Most of it...
However, what isn't the worst is Hip Hop...
The problem is that the majority of people don't know the difference between the two. Most rap is unintelligent, uncreative, uninformed, and worthless. That's the side that can't be justifiably called music. It is noise and anyone who recognizes that has both working ears and a brain...There is some good rap music out there, it's just an extreme rarity in today's music world...
Then there's Hip Hop.
Hip Hop music is a section of a large culture. It's a genuine art form...It can be described as rap with an education. Normally, its well written, socially conscious, creative and lyrically inspiring.
The main reason we're seeing so many "Yes" answers to this question is because too many people are usually only exposed to what they hear on the radio and that mostly isn't true to the roots Hip Hop music...

Most of the popular rap nowadays is pretty senseless, and all about money, biatches, etc. There is a lot of good hip-hop out there too (see:Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Aesop Rock, et. al.). I have less respect for those that don't create their own music though, and a large majority of hip-hop is stolen from older songs. When P Diddy claims he invented the remix, he's admitting that he couldn't produce much original good music, so he just stole someone else's.
For an example of true lyrical talent, take Three Six Mafia's lyrics to their hit "Slob on my Knob": http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/three6mafia/slobonmyknob.html

Rap is actually complicated. It may not seem like it, but it is. The good stuff anyway. It's poetry, street poetry about injustice and anger (this music DOES exist).
The stuff you hear on the radio I barely consider rap. It's processed, commercialized then wheeled around to the suburbs for distrubution.
But if you think about it even someone like 50 cent can have a good lyric. "I love you like a fat kid love cake." -Sounds stupid, doesn't it? But in actuality, it's smart. It's a pretty good simile. You know the direct correlation to watching that one fat person sit down and gorge on food and to say you love someone as much as a fat kid adores cake is full of imagery and something you immediately recognize. If he said I love you like the hood likes food stamps, you're going to go...okay, but I've never had food stamps or been to the hood, but you probably do know some fat kids that munch on some cake.
I'm not defending the radio drivel, just saying that sometimes you'll catch something smart in all of it. Ludicris has a habit of saying a bunch of completely inane lyrics, but having that one lyric that if you think about it is really freaking intelligent.

Rap is Rap, just because you don't like it, you don't have the right top bash it. If you are so good at rap, then why don't you go out and make a platinum selling album, get rich from it. Because perhaps you are too busy bashing peoples musical talents. I am not a major rap fan either, but it still is a form of music which is a way for an artist to express themselves. So who gave you the right to bash it?

This doesn't even sound like a question. But okay: bad rap is really bad, and some rappers seem to get their reputations primarily from the outrageousness of their material or who they hang out with. But you can't paint it all the same. There are people out there who are fully capable of coming up with a creatively-rhymed and interesting line of talk and who can do amazing stuff with rhythm. (Though it sounds like you still just wouldn't like it?)

You are wrong. There is plenty of great rap music out there, it's just that not all of it is played on radio and tv for you to hear. And I highly doubt that you could rap. Seriously if you think you are so great I want to hear something from you. E-mail me an attatchment of you rapping. You wouldn't even know where to start!
And you aren't even asking a question so you shouldn't have posted this on YA

No,rap music isn't the worst.
And not all music has to have a message. Most of the Beastles and Elvis Presley's songs didn't have revalent messages to them and are they talentless hacks?

The music does have a message....it's just a really bad one. I think rap is pointless, and I don't see why rappers make so much money for their lack of talent.
