This question has been around for a while. So, some college (I think it was Princeton, but I'm not sure) ran a test. 500 different people started to lick 500 different Tootsie Pops. The final result dictated that it takes an average of 144 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.

I do not like them very much. When I was younger, I cut my tongue on one after just one lick, and I dropped it on the ground. It shattered in several pieces, exposing the tootsie roll center. One lick.
