They havent proven that any of the chemicals actually hurt the baby. I recomend two things. The first go to a salon and have a professional do it because the biggest part about dying your hair when pregnant is the hormones being so high in your body can cause the colors to come out diffrent then you hope or expect, so if you have a professional do it you have a better chance of getting what you want. Second if you are worried about the fumes and I dont blame you you can always wear those maskes that cover the nose and mouth like a drs mask

I would just go to the salon. My OB said that anything is okay in moderation and the amount of dyes that get into the body from hair dyes is minimal and shouldn't be worried about.

I had my hair highlilghted while pregnant and again while breastfeeding. I have a 15 month old daughter who is smart, happy and healthy.

I used Loreal professional, from Sally Beauty Supply. So really, it won't hurt the baby. BUT, this stuff is POTENT! If you are worried, there are some more natural types, but I never tried them. Be aware, when you are pregnant, your hair is very different and may not color at all. Mine was great for about a week and then all washed out. This was the good stuff too.

vegetable dye or semi-permanent dye. Look for low levels of chemicals like ammonia. You can get vegetable dye at health food stores or some salons carry it too.
