Don't listen to Incongru. It's a great place. lovely beach (tho' cold), the usual shops - 3 centres St Nicholas, trinity and Bon Accord - but some different shops too. The Royal Thai is a great restaurant (Crown Terrace) For something cheaper try Slains Castle (Belmont Street). The harbour's pretty interesting too if you're into boats or wildlife. Footdee village is worth a look, just next to the harbour. Also, if you can take a wander up to the University. it's one of the oldest in Scotland is is really atmospheric.
There are some good night clubs and for live music there's the Lemon Tree and Music Hall
It is, tho', quite expensive cos of the oil, so take LOTS of dosh
Enjoy!

If you like drinking to excess, shouting, swearing and fighting in the street then aberdeen is the place for you. They have a street called "justice mill lane" specifically for this purpose.

Other than that, there is really only 1 other street, called union street. They have all the same shops as any OTHER provincial high street, the only difference is everything is 10% more expensive than Edinburgh or Glasgow.

The traffic system is chaotic, you crawl into this town over a dilapidated medieval bridge.

It is a harsh cold unwelcoming place. The locals are mean spirited greedy and they think the world stops at Stonehaven. Oh but I forgot to mention a good point- the granite sparkles when it rains!!

I stayed at Aberdeen and it is a wonderfgul city. Aberdeen is Scotland's third largest city, a prosperous cosmopolitan city with an international well-travelled population. The city has a wide variety of arts and culture to tempt visitors, with venues including His Majesty's Theatre, the Music Hall, the Lemon Tree (said to be Aberdeen's all year festival fringe) and the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. Aberdeen's famous 'Granite Mile' - Union Street - is the gateway to over 800 shops, restaurants and bars. Aberdeen is 13 times winner of Britain in Bloom, and has its own golden sandy beach.

Try the Italian restaurant La Lombarda at the corner of King Street and Union Street. And go and watch Aberdeen FC play at Pittodrie Stadium!
