Is fat 5 pounds over what the doctor says your ideal weight should be or is it 50? Is there an ideal weight? Why do we determine this by age and height?

there IS a reason for weight/height relationships in context to health.. of course, being abit overweight is alright, some ppl also look good like that.

but, if you are too heavy, there has to be an underlying reason.
Either eating too much, or for biological reasons, Both are just as bad. There are of course exceptions to biological reasons, meaning there might not be any health issues but its better to be safe than sorry..

You can do your own calculations as to how healthy you are for your weight, like what one of these anwerers somewhere above me suggested, go to the websites and calculate stuff like BMI and observe the height-weight scale...

Who care what "society" thinks? The important things is a person's health!

Five pounds overweight is not going to impose much of a health risk! The higher you go, the more risk....

Here is a Height/Weight chart....

A BMI Calculator...

....And another....

In my opionion, the ONLY thing that matters is a person's health.

Take care...... :)
