way too easy!!!!

I have driven all over Europe and have licenses to drive almost all category's.

When I moved to the States I applied for my license after driving with my international license. The Theory test was common sense especially if you READ the book prior to your test. The driving test was a joke, this is how it went....

"Ok Mr Blue turn left out of the parking lot....now pull up on the right side (this is not even a through road just the road leading to the car park with not traffic)....back up keeping in line with the curb....GREAT!....now pull away and turn right.....now turn left.........turn left....turn right....turn left........GREAT!........turn right....GREAT have you driven before?"

I drove for only 9 minutes! I scored 98 out of 100. I got a 2 point deduction as I failed to look left and right BEFORE I crossed the railroad tracks. This would have not have made any difference due to the buildings blocking my view of the line and the fact that I was doing 35mph at the point of crossing the tracks. Oh well... I am sure they need to find something.

Too easy to get one.. no not really.. Too easy to KEEP one, yes.

Drunk drivers should have their licenses permanently removed. Elderly should be required to road test every year or two to keep their license. Young people should have stricter guidlines imposed, that help them to pay better attention to what they are doing.
EVERYONE should be required to take defensive driving and some kind of 'courtesy' classes.

However, I would agree that it should be a requirement to speak and read English. If I were to move to a foreign country, I imagine they would expect me to learn their language and customs, and I would expect that of myself, so why should it not be the same here?

I lost mine and had to get a certified copy of my birth certificate to get another, even though I work for the county and was born in the same state. I'm not sure how to answer your question because of my experience. If you mean the driving test, yes. There should be more involved.

No. There is a written AND driving exam you must pass, plus if you are under 18 you have to take a class with a driving instructor. And if you are under 18, to get your license you have to also have been driving for 6 months with an adult present in the car at all times.

Either you're a good driver or you're not. How hard is it supposed to be?
